After a decade of wandering around Russia, they were returned by the Russian embassy to Japan. A photographic reproduction of the Japanese text of the manuscript was published in Russia in 1961 with translation, notes and commentary by V.M. Konstantinov. However, in Japan its existence has been forgotten. It has not been listed in either of the major bibliographical collections, Kokusho Sômokuroku or Kotenseki Sôgô Mokuroku. In Russia as well, it has become a forgotten book while translation of Inoue Yasushi's \"Oroshiyakoku Suimutan,\" whose title seems to be inspired by it, is famous and has been filmed.\nContained in this manuscript is exceedingly interesting information illustrating the drama of contact with a foreign culture during the period of Japanese isolation, This manuscript, as can be ascertained from its title, preface and style, was not written at the behest of the bakufu or any feudal lord.
