About this novel, Akai Keiko pointed out that studies approached by “author’s idea” and “all sorts of images of the work” have been broken apart (Kusamakura Kenkyūshi Gaikan, and Houi, 1983) and Kamei Hideo pointed out that studies from “the perspective of narrative strategy” have not been carried out thoroughly (Kokubungaku, 1994, extra edition). Also with the increasing number of comparative studies of other works of the same period and works of foreign literature, Kusamakura has been read from various perspectives. However, such studies as on “person, and connection with art” (Kokubungaku, 1987) pointed out by Nakajima Kunihiko, and on consideration of self-proclaimed painter by Kamei Hideo are uncommon. Taken a look at discourse of Souseki and criticisms such as Yo ga Kusamakura (1906), Bunsyō Hitokuchi Banashi (1906), and Shaseibun (1907) etc., Kusamakura was described as a “Shaseibun (descriptive writing style)” as a new movement, which was “never found in the West” and “nor in Japan, needless to say” and “it was completely different from ordinary novels”. Nevertheless, almost no research from such a stylistic perspective has been done. This paper will look at the composition of a picture and scenery ( the connection of “Chi” and “Zu”) and the characteristics of verbal communication between “Yo” and surrounding people, especially the connection between “Yo” ’s consciousness in a text and Nami’s words in a conversational text. Also this paper will analyze the uniqueness of utopia that the first person “Yo” aimed at. Moreover, I will look into how “Kusmakura” in literature after Russo-Japanese War was recognized through comparison with other literary works on Russo-Japanese War.}, pages = {15--30}, publisher = {国文学研究資料館}, title = {研究発表 『草枕』の「ユートピア」と一人称 ―語り手の機能について―}, year = {2010}, yomi = {カイ, ハク} }
