The storyteller of a verbal art, which can be rakugo or Kōdan, has in fact to represent many kinds of characters, to perform the parts of all of them, and to reproduce their way of talking. Then, among the characters, the storyteller himself appears as a narrative voice, in a narrative structure that can be very interesting and complex.\nIn particular, if we analyze the San’yūtei Enchō’s works, the theme of ‘narrative person’ become even more interesting. As it is well known, Enchō was not only a storyteller, but he composed almost all the titles of his repertory. Among the characters he created and performed, he portrayed in particular female characters and their passions in a very impressive way.
