 note = {pdf, 本稿では、高知県立高知城歴史博物館の地域資料の保存や調査に関する4 つの活動事例を紹介し、そこから見える当館および高知県における地域資料問題の課題を検討した。
高知県において、急速に進む過疎高齢化を起因とする地域社会の衰退・消滅は、その地で展開した歴史や特色ある文化の消失にも繋がりかねない。このような地域が抱える現在的課題に積極的に関わり、地域の歴史文化を活かした活動を展開していくため、当館には「地域振興・観光振興への寄与」という使命が課せられている。
使命を実現すべく、当館では現在（１）地域資料の保存等に関する相談窓口の設置、（２）旧役場に伝わった行政文書の保存・調査、（３）地域の歴史を資料調査の結果も含めて１冊にまとめた記録集の作成、（４）地域住民が主体的に行う資料保存・調査への協力等、地域の歴史文化の裏付けとなる地域資料の保存・調査に重点を置いた活動に取り組んでいる。
しかし、県全域の地域資料の所在確認や保存管理、調査結果の公開には、相当の時間と労力が必要であり、単館で完結できるものではない。地域資料の保存・調査を広く進めていくためには、博物館だけでなく行政や住民等の地域資料に関わる人たちが連携し、県全体の活動にしていくことが必要であろう。
先人より受け継がれてきた歴史や文化、そしてそれを継承していこうとする「今」をいかに考えるか。それが地域の未来を改めて考えることに繋がるのではないだろうか。
This article, which introduces four areas in which the prefectural Kochi Castle Museum of History has been engaged in efforts to preserve and investigate regional materials, seeks to investigate the most pressing problems and challenges relating to such material as faced by the museum and by the prefecture as a whole. The rapid acceleration of the average age of people living in Kochi Prefecture has and will continue to operate as a factor in the slow decline and, perhaps, eventual extinction of regional society, especially in regards to the unique history and culture of that region. The Kochi Castle Museum of History has been charged with the mission of actively contributing to the promotion of regional culture and tourism. More specifically, the museum has committed itself to performing the following four functions: First, to serve as a point of contact for issues relating to the preservation of regional material. Second, to preserve and investigate documents previously stored at old town offices. Third, to produce a document containing the results of investigations into material related to regional history. Fourth, to cooperate with local residents and have them actively engage in the effort to preserve and investigate regional materials. The task of confirming the location of regional materials stored throughout the prefecture, properly preserving these materials, and finally making them available to the public will require an immense amount of time and effort—not something the Kochi Castle Museum of History ca achieve on its own. It will be necessary, therefore, to enlist the aid not only of libraries, but of government offices and the local populace; the entire prefecture must be engaged in this project of preservation and investigation. Serious consideration must be made in regards to how we might use our present age to transmit the history and culture handed down to us by our forebears, considerations that will deeply affect the future of regional culture in Kochi.},
