There are no records left indicating that Sei Shōnagon did something that could have triggered Murasaki Shikibu to justify such a criticism, though, Murasaki Shikibu criticized Sei Shōnagon, despite the fact that she was younger than her, without hesitation. Regarding the meaning of mana kakichirashi, excellent interpretations from various angles have been discussed in the conventional research. However, there is no concrete studies nor findings on her criticism which suggests her calligraphy view. Therefore, in this article, we put aside the \"writing kanji here and there\" and discussed a possible interpretation from a new angle that Murasaki Shikibu pointed out that the handwriting transcribed by Sei Shōnagon were not good.
