It was vocabulary to appear quite frequently from the Insei period to the Middle Ages, it exercised power of expression in the lively scene where movement of crowds and the power of groups clash with each other. It is considered to be a typical of the language of the Middle Ages, however, as for Setsuwa shu (a narrative collection), there are the most examples of its use in Ujishui-monogatari, it also intensively appears in the group of story which is not possible to find in the same kind of story. From the analysis, while striving to determine its position in “the Middle Ages”, moreover matching it with similar expression such as “nonoshiru”, it was mentioned that a dramatic representation of a space-time where the beholder and the person who is seen had an argument and a close relationship with humorous mimicry ”Sarugaku”（猿楽）.
