 note = {pdf, 日本の古典文学に登場する狐のイメージには、中国の影響を受けているものが多く、特に人と狐の婚姻譚は、六朝志怪小説や、唐代伝奇小説『任氏伝』などが知られている。日本では九世紀に成立した仏教説話集『日本霊異記』上巻第二をはじめ、いわゆる「狐女房譚」の系譜として、以降の説話集や御伽草子、謡曲、説経節、歌舞伎などに受け継がれていった。
　狐が登場する御伽草子には『木幡狐』、『玉藻草紙』、『狐の草紙』などがあり、いずれも美女に化けた狐が人間と結ばれ、正体が露見しそうになって逃げるという構造は共通する。『玉水物語』も同じく異類物と見なされているが、女房となって姫君に仕えるものの結ばれることはなく、姫君の入内によって恋破れると、最後は姫君に正体を打ち明けて、人間社会から去っており、上述の作品群とは展開を異にする。
　一方で、『玉水物語』には、主人公たちが和歌を贈答したり、紅葉合が行われたり、主君のもとを去る時に長歌を添えて文を残すなど、王朝物語的な雰囲気が色濃く見られることから、従来、異類物に分類されてきた『玉水物語』の、公家物的性質に注目し、中世王朝物語や他の公家物とも比較しながら、『玉水物語』の特色について考察していきたい。
　Many of the images of foxes in Japan classical literature have Chines influences.
In particular, Six dynasties bizarre novel, and Tang dynasty bizarre novel Jin-shi den
are known in the tales of marriage between humans and foxes. In Japan, so-called ”fox
wives’ tales,” including Buddhist narrative collection Nihon Ryōiki upper volume 2,
which is compiled in the ninth century, were passed down to subsequent Collection of
narratives, Otogizōshi, Noh, Sekkyō Bushi, Kabuki.
　Otogizōshi in which foxes appear includes Kowata Kitsune, Tamamo no sōshi,
Kistune no sōshi, all of which share a common structure in which a fox disguised as a
beautiful woman marries a human and escapes when her true identity is about to be
revealed. Tamamizu monogatari is also considered to be a tale of animals, in which a
fox serves a princess as a court lady, but they never get together, and when her love is
broken by her bridal entry into court, she finally reveals her true identity to her and
leaves human society, which is different from the works above.
　On the other hand, Tamamizu monogatari has a strong dynastic atmosphere in that
the main characters exchange Waka, Competition of autumn leaves is held, and when
they leave their lords, they leave a sentence with Chōka.
　Therefore, I would like to focus on the characteristics of Tamamizu monogatari as
a tale of Nobility, which has been classified as a tale of animals and consider the
characteristics of Tamamizu monogatari by comparing it with medieval dynastic stories
and other courtly stories.},
