@article{oai:kokubunken.repo.nii.ac.jp:00000474, author = {本田, 康雄 and HONDA, Yasuo}, issue = {18}, journal = {国文学研究資料館紀要, The Bulletin of The National Institute of Japanese Literature}, month = {Mar}, note = {pdf, 日本の新聞は総発行部数において自由主義諸国中の第一位であり、一社あたりの総発行部数は読売新聞の約一千万部が世界最高である。そして中央紙、地方紙を問わず日本の新聞には絵入りの新聞小説が朝・夕刊に掲載されている(序)。これは明治のはじめ東京絵入新聞などの小新聞(大衆紙)の雑報欄に生じた所謂三面記事の連載にはじまり(一、雑報記事の連載)、これが虚実相半ばする実話から記事の形を採る創作へ展開して読者の人気を得た(三、所謂「続きもの」)。坪内道遙は読売新聞(改進党系)において紙面の改革を断行し、雑報記事を綴り合せた様な続きものを廃し、別に小説欄を新設した。明治十九年一月より『鍛鐵場の主人』(フランスのジオルジュオネー原作、加藤瓢乎訳)、つゞいて『当世商人気質』(饗庭篁村)を連載した。小説の書き手として尾崎紅葉、幸田露伴が入社し、文壇に紅露時代が成立することとなった(三、新聞小説と坪内遁遙)。坪内道遙の小説欄の改革は、明治十八年に発表した『小説神髄』の理論に基くもので江戸時代以来の我国の道徳的文学観と文化の構造に変更を迫るものであった(おわりに―坪内逍遙の小説観)。 Japanese newspapers are the highest rank of issues in circulation in liberal countries. Regarding the gross circulation per company, 10 million copies of the Yomiuri Shinbun was the best record in the world. Regardless of a metropolitan newspapers or local newspapers, illustrated serial stories were printed in a morning and an evening edition (Preliminary). This started from a serial society pages in general news column which were written in Tokyo-eiri Shinbun in the early Meiji period (Ⅰ: serial general news articles). This developed from the true story which is only half true to creation of the article form and got popularity of the readers (Ⅲ:  so-called “a series”). Tsubouchi Shoyo effected a reform of space in Yomiuri Shinbun (Progressive Party line), abolished serial stories binding to the general new article, and founded a novel column anew. From in January 1886, “Tantetsujo no shujin”(鍛鐵場の主人)(Written by Ohnet Gerges, Translated by Kato Hyogo), next, “Tosei Shonin Kishitsu”(当世商人気質)written by Aeba Koson started to be serialized. The era of Ko-Ro(紅露)was established by entering the company of Ozaki Koyo and Koda Rohan as writers (Ⅲ A Serial Story in a Newspaper and Tsubouchi Shoyo). A reform of the novel column by Tsubouchi Shoyo was based on the theory of “Shosetsu shinzui”(小説神髄) published in 1885. It persuaded the moralization of literature and the change of cultural structure.
