 note = {永井荷風『地獄の花』を、同時代の小説、批評の中で位置づける。この作品は、内部に「写実小説」「光明小説」を含み込みつつ、それらの既成の展開を〈社会〉を強調することで機能不全に陥れ、既成小説に対する批評的な位置を確保している。その上で、主人公に既成小説の主人公とは異なる認識に立ち至らせているが、それは〈写実〉と〈理想〉の止揚を目指す文壇の動向を踏まえつつ、「美的生活論」を持ち込んだものであった。

　“Jigoku no hana” （地獄の花）by Nagai Kafu was placed in the novels of the same period and the criticism. Then he let a main chief character enter the recognition different from the main character of the established novel.
