| 内容記述 | Structural linguistics, especially the particular ideas of the French structuralist T. Todorov, says that there are very few new texts. Even if changes occur in the concepts concerning the literary nature or the content of poetics, all new texts are variants of the text which has the one deep structure of that culture’s literature and literary arts. Consequently, it is possible to structurally analyze Genji M onogatari 〔The Tale of Genji〕in opposition with earlier texts and one can say the same thing in regard to tales from the late Heian period in opposition to earlier texts. But, as Saussure points out, each text is simultaneously situated in as pecific language system (langage) and creates the specific language behavior (parole). Scholars after Saussure say that one text displays the quality of being linked with other texts or with the deep structure text within that culture ― the so-called diachronic dimension (historical). At the same time, it also displays the quality of determining the particular literar nature ― the so-called synchronic dimension (descriptive). When one researches the Heian period tales diachronically, the following two historical problems may occur.Namely, (1) how to expand narratives whose only precedents are in the episode form and (2) how to refine and expand the technique of creating the main characters found in the earlier works. I hope to make these problems clear through a comparison of Genji Monogatari and Yowa no Nezame 〔Midnight Awakening〕. In closing, I would like to analyze and evaluate Yowa no Nezame synchronically and make clear by what techniques the literary nature of a specific text (work) is expressed. |
