| 内容記述 | From August 1884 to September 1888, Ōgai Rintaro Mori, the most prominent writer in modern Japanese literature, lived in Germany as a military doctor with the Japanese Imperial Army. In the free atmosphere of Leipzig, Dresden, and Munich he had a bright and cheerful life. But his life in Berlin, which he visited last, was darker. At that time, Berlin was the capital of Germany, and Ōgai was thus burdened with the duties of public and private intercourse. He was especially under great strain when his superior, Tadanori Ishiguro, came to Munich to attend the 4th International Red Cross Conference as a representative of Japan. In the light of the new literature available concerning the Ishiguro and Mori families, I would like to investigate the topic of “Ōgai Mori: the last year of his study in Germany，” with particular attention to (1) the relations between Ōgai and his fellow doctor Taniguchi, centered around Ishiguro (2) the actual circumstances of Ōgai’s military duty in Germany (3) Ōgai ’s sweetheart (Rei no Hito) through the eyes of Sozan (lshiguro ’s sweetheart). |
