内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The formation of real and imaginary worlds around the centers of existence and the ego has been the consistent theme of Haniya Yutaka's writing, from his early works up to the present, and regardless of whether the approach to that theme has been philosophical, or taken the form of the novel of ideas or that of aphorisms, the theme itself has revolved within the same orbit. At the same time, readings of Haniya's writings which focus on style and narrative technique, such as have begun to appear in recent studies of Haniya, make it apparent that several types of narrative devices are deployed by Haniya. The present report will attempt to clarify the narrative devices in Haniya's writing in the light of the interplay of narrative and text which weaves the literary space of that writing. I will take as examples the 1960's text, Yaminonaka no kuroi uma, and the 1970's text, "Muma no sekai," which makes up chapter 5 of Shiryo . By contrasting the ways the various "I's" of the narrator and the first person protagonist of the former text intervene in the narrative with the ways the narrator in the latter organizes the multiple third person protagonists, I will establish the foothol for a classification of narrative structures in Haniya's writing.
The foundations for such a classification will have to begin with a reconsideration of existing studies of Haniya, in the light of the problem of narrative devices, while deriving a theoretical framework for narrative classification from French structuralist and post-structuralist literary criticism, particularly that of Gerard Genette. The importance of the latter framework is that Genette and his colleagues are not interested in the simple hermeneutical analysis of existing texts, but instead conceive of the hierarchical relations among narrators and characters as determining the potential structures of narrative, and such a conception can be said to correspond precisely to the construction of the text through the superposition of inquiries into existence upon experiments in the power of imagination, which constitutes the practice of Haniya's writing. Hence this classification will approach the structuring of narrative devices in terms of the possibilities of linguistic action, and for this reason the trajectory established by the theory of speech acts developed in British philosophies of language will guide this study, as well, offering the basic categories for a dynamic classification.
