内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Kaifuso is the Japan's oldest collection in existence of Chinese poetry, which consists of 120 poems (four pieces are missing) written in about 80 years from the reign of Emperor Tenchi to the Nara Period. What did the compiler want to express with this anthology? A clue to this question can be found in the preface written by the compiler. In this presentation, the compiler’s view of literature and purpose written in the preface are discussed in comparison with Wen Xuan, and the process of editing Kaifuso is traced. Some keywords are found in the preface including Jinbun, Hensho and Itoma (free time). Jinbun is a culture including letters introduced from China before Hensho’s completion, meaning the preparation period for Hensho. In this stage, the compiler says, Hensho as a literary work had not been completed. Then the preceding reign of Emperor Tenchi is glorified and the completion of Hensho is mentioned. Hensho is considered a beautiful literature, but what prompted the completion of the work? A phrase in the preface says the Imperial court had plenty of time because of the peaceful world. It also says there had been no time to compile Hensho but in the era of Tenchi, the world is peace and now rulers and subjects have time for creative activities. But the compiler doesn’t say literature is just a means for pass time. Rather, it says, well-managed nation's system and well-governed world made it possible to create the beautiful work. This argument reflects the compiler’s view that political and literary worlds are deeply connected. This doesn’t mention the role of literature to enlighten people as Chinese books say, but it introduces a view of the compiler that the quality of a literary work as a book is a sign of great rein. This is considered the reason that this collection was completed as a book.
