内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Myōe (1173 ‒1232) left a rare book named Yumenoki that recorded his dreams from the age of 19 to 59. The study on the reason about his behavior of writing his dreams are as follows: 1. The dreams were the signal emitted from the Buddha for Myōe (Okuda Isao. etc.). 2. Myōe had a rational and positive attitude to dreams, so he could record them over his lifetime (Kawai Hayao). 3. It is due to the absolute faith in dream (Yamada Shōzen. etc.). 4. Myōe found the evidence of his training from those dreams( Nomura Takumi. etc.). 5. Araki Hiroshi's view is different from them. He sought the reason from Chinese literature and he pointed out that the behavior of recording dreams had begun from Mingxiangji of China.
However, the dream written in the preface of Mingxiangji is a temporary record made by the author to claim that his work is based on the instruction of God. That is different from Myōe’s Yumenoki in which writing down the dreams was a habit. According to the author’s studies, there are in China records which preceded the Yumenoki. For example, as early as the times of Qiliang, we can see dream’s records in Tao Hongjing’s Zhengao and Zhoushimingtongji, or in the Sushiji of Su Shi who lived during the dynasty of Northern Song. Interestingly, we can confirm that Tao Hongjing also have a work named Yumenoki (in Chinese Mengji). In addition, the possibility that Myōe knew the existence of Yumenoki written by Su Shi and Tao Hongjing is sufficient through the data of that time.
In this paper, to seek the reason why Myōe wrote the Yumenoki, the author will survey Chinese Yumenoki to consider the possibility that Myōe’s behavior was inspired by the Chinese’s Yumenoki, and study the communication between Japan and China.
