| 内容記述 | UNIMARC is a format specification proposed by the lFLA in l977 as a device for the UBC development. Being a UBC device, the UNIMARC is to give an impetus to national bibliographic control(NBC), hence without NBC development, exchange of bibliographic information on the UNIMARC nor the UBC system would not be achieved. Prior to the UNIMARC format, most of the MARC formats served as a carrier of national MARC records principally for printing catalogue cards. In the UNIMARC design, the EUDISED format played a proto-type role for indicating "functional blocking of data elements'' and interconnecting multi-level descriptions, both inherited by the UNIMARC. Some environmental requirements for MARC/UNIMARC exchange and philosophical aspects of the exchange such as the relationship between standard record and local record, types and functions of data, types of documents covered by the UNIMARC, are the basic ingredients for acceptance and agreement for the UNIMARC network by all the concerned parties. Those requirements, of technical at a grance, are basically administrative. Background of the UNIMARC design and its purpose as well as its unique features "functional bloking'', "linking entry field'' are remarked to point out the basic aspects of the UNIMARC. Common format for libraries and abstracting & indexing services have been under discussion, and the Recommendations of the Sicily meeting are summarised. |
