| 内容記述 | 本稿では、現代の宗教団体の活動から生じる記録の維持管理や、そのための保管施設の在り方について追究することを目的とし、既に具体的な支援策として「宗教関係アーカイブズ支援計画」が実施されているイギリスの事例を、英国国教会と記録保管の歴史、現代の支援計画という二つの側面から検討する。 イギリスでは16世紀以来、英国国教会信徒の洗礼・婚姻・埋葬の際に残した記録を各教会が保管をする制度が整えられてきたため、教会が公的な記録管理に関わる伝統が存在する。これは公的な法律によって非宗教的な登録が行われている現在でも、教区記録保管所という形で存続している。 この伝統を背景として、現在のイギリスでは宗教団体における記録保管の意義が重要視されており、英国国教会に限らずあらゆる宗教団体がアーカイブズを保有することが奨励され、支援が進められている。その内容は、宗教関係アーカイブズの存在意義を明確化すること、記録管理の現状を調査すること、宗教団体への助言やアーキビストの養成、資金確保への協力など、全面的なバックアップを図ることである。 イギリスの宗教関係アーカイブズは、現状として保存環境や人的リソースに多くの問題を抱えているが、公的にそれに対する意義付けがなされ、具体的な支援が行われていることは、肯定的な成果を生み出すものと推察される。将来の日本への応用のため、検討材料として今後も注視しておく必要がある。 This article aims to examine maintenance and management of records resulting from the activities of contemporary religious groups and also how the storage facilities should be constructed and operated in order to maintain and manage those records properly. It discusses the case of the United Kingdom where the Religious Archives Support Plan is already implemented as a concrete support measure, focusing on two aspects, the Church of England and history of its archives, and the support plan in modern time. In the United Kingdom, there is a tradition of involvement of the churches in public records management. This is because each Church of England has kept systematically the records of its believers' baptism, marriage, and or burial since the 16th century. The system has survived in the form of a diocesan record office even though non-religious registrations by public law are now being carried out. Having this tradition as the background, in the current United Kingdom, archiving records in religious groups is regarded as significantly important. It is encouraged to retain archives in all religious organizations, not just the UK church, and the support is being advanced. The contents cover giving a full support such as clarifying the significance of existence of Religious Archives, investigating the current state of record management, advising religious groups and training archivists, and cooperating to secure funds. The United Kingdom Religious Archives has many problems in the preservation environment and the human resources. However, those issues are taken up publicly, and concrete support is being made. Therefore, it is inferred that such supports will produce positive outcomes. Considering the possibility of applying these activities to Japanese religious archives in the future, it is necessary to keep our eyes on the United Kingdom Religious Archives. |
