| 内容記述 | 川端康成の作品には、未完のものや終結感の弱いものが多く、それが川端文学のひとつの特長になっているほどであるが、これは何に由来し、また作品の解釈と評価の上でどう扱うべきものであろうか。本稿はこの問題を取り上げ、作品最終部の推敲過程を観察し分析することによって、川端のもっていた「終わり」の感覚を明らかにしようとする試みである。具体例としては、終結感の弱い「駿河の令嬢」と「愛」を先ず取り上げ、次に終結感が比較的強い「少年」と『雪國』を検討した後、両者の中間に位置すると思われる『千羽鶴』『波千鳥』について終結部を考察し、更にそれらをまとめて一応の結論を出してみた。結局、川端文学における未完性は、当然のことながら、作者のもっていた文学観ひいては人生観に深くかかわってくる。中でも人間心理の不可解さとか、自然のいとなみの奥深さとか、純粋の美のとらえ難さとかについて、川端は極めて慎重な姿勢を持していたが、それが彼の作品における終結感と関連しているように思われるのである。 One of characteristics of the Kawabata literature is that many works of Kawabata Yasunari are unfinished and the ending is not clear. What does this come from and how should be treated on interpretation and evaluation of his works? This article takes up these issues and tries to clarify a sense of “the end” which he had by observing and analyzing the process of improving sentences in the last part of his works. For example “Suruga no reijo”（駿河の令嬢）,and “Ai”（愛）were taken up at first. After examining “Shonen”（少年）and “Yukiguni”（雪国）which a feeling of “the end” is relatively strong, conclusion part of “Senbazuru” （千羽鶴）,”Namichidori”（波千鳥）which seem to be placed at the middle of both of them were considered , furthermore these results were summarized and drew the tentative conclusion. It is obvious that the incompletion in the Kawabata literature is deeply concerned with an outlook on literature, eventually, view of life. Above all, Kawabata maintained extremely careful posture regarding mystery of the human psychology or profundity of the workings of nature or the difficulty of pure beauty, it seems to be related to sense of the end in his work. |
