| 内容記述 | 記録史料記述の標準化をすすめる際に、その根拠として情報の共有化が挙げられることが多い。たしかに、それは一般的に標準化がもたらす利益の一つということができるが、しかし第一義的なものではない。標準化のもたらす本来の利益は「単純化」による費用の軽減である。このことは記録史料の編成・記述やそれらに基づく検索手段の作成にも当てはまるはずである。しかしながら、そのような主張はこれまでなされてこなかった。本稿では、その理由を明らかにすることをとおして、General International Standard Archival Description [ISAD(G)]やそれをインターネット上で実現するEncoded Archival Description (EAD)などの導入を促進するための方法を検討した。そこでは、記録史料の編成・記述費用やそれらに基づく検索手段の作成費用の軽減が導入の根拠とされてこなかったのは、初期費用が高いからだと解釈した。初期費用を低く抑えることができれば、ISAD(G)やEADの導入が促進されるはずである。そこで、その手段として、検索手段の作成やEAD化の過程に関する知識とともにそれらを実現するためのツール（作成システム）の共有を提案した。そのうえで、構築されたEAD/XMLデータ作成システムの内容を紹介し、その使い方を説明した。 The primary benefit of General International Standard of Archival Description [ISAD(G) ] and Encoded Archival Description (EAD) is not so much the enhanced sharing of archival information, as is often supposed, as the reduction of running costs resulting from simplified production and management. This benefit should also be extended to finding aids such as catalogues compiled by international standard descriptions, but a claim such as this has hardly been made. I assume that this lack of interest stems from the high initial costs that exceed the operating benefits and that reducing the initial costs should lead to promoting catalogues based on international standard descriptions. Given this assumption, I then claim the importance of a common procedure of digital finding-aids development in accordance with international standard descriptions, with a particular focus on EAD. Finally, I present a software application that encourages the sharing of the procedure described above and helps reduce the initial costs of introducing EAD-based finding aids. |
