| 内容記述 | 膨大かつ多様なアーカイブズ資料を効率的に検索するには、フォンドやシリーズのレベルを単位とする「集合的記述」を基本とする方式が有効であるとされる。しかし日本にはこの方式を用いた検索手段の実例が少なく、その特徴や意義も十分に理解されているとはいい難い。そこで本研究では、この方式が発達した米国における現代公文書の検索手段の実際について調査した。その際、インターネットの検索エンジンにおける「キーワード型」と「ディレクトリ型」の区分を参照しつつ、アーカイブズ検索手段の特徴の把握と類型化を試みた。 本研究ではまず、全米の州文書館の検索手段に影響を与えるいくつかの要因について概観した後、各館のWebサイト上で提供されている州政府記録の検索手段を対象に、以下の項目について調査した｡(1)検索手段の種類、(2)キーワード型とディレクトリ型の区分、（3）基本目録のナビゲーシヨンの方式、（4）基本目録のファイルフォーマット。 その結果によれば、いずれの館でも複数の多様な検索手段を提供していた。そのうち基本目録は、所蔵資料の全体像からシリーズ記述へと順次リンクをたどる「ディレクトリ型」となっている場合が多かったが、そのナビゲーション方式にはいくつかの類型がみられた。これらの結果を踏まえ、米国の州文書館の検索手段の特徴について「利用が容易」「作成が容易」という二つの観点から考察した。 In order to search voluminous archival materials efficiently, “collective description” methods will be of use. In Japan, however, examples of finding aids based on this method are rare, and that's why the characteristics and various are not well understood. The author examines the finding aids of modern public records in the United States, where this method have highly developed. In reference to the differentiation of do keyword approach” and directory approach” in internet search engines, he tries to categorize variety of archival finding aids. In this article, some factors affecting the nature of finding aids in U.S. state archives are reviewed, and online finding aids for state government records are surveyed on the following topics; (1) types of finding aids; (2) category of inventories; (3) navigation systems; (4) file format of electronic inventories. Survey results show that almost very state archives provide multiple types of finding aids. Many inventories take “directory approach” which tracks human overview of the holdings to specific series. Some categories are found regarding the navigations systems of inventories. Based on those data, author discussed the general characteristics of finding aids in U. S. state archives as both "easy-to-use" and "easy-to-Create''. |
