| 内容記述 | In the Document Department of the Imperial Household Agency, among the Katsura no Miya Bon, there is a document called "Letters of Date Masamune" (registration no. 桂－ 1254). The following nine letters, addressed to Hachijo no Miya (who was to become later Katsura no Miya), i.e to Ikushima Hidemori, who died at 73 on November (double month) 16. 1639 (the 16th year of Kan'ei), are also included. 1 September 19 Sendai –Chunagon Origami 2 April 21 Matsudaira -Mutsunokami Origami 3 January 14 Matsudaira -Mutsunokami Origami 4 January 6 Matsudaira -Mutsunokami Origami 5 January 7 Sendai -Chunagon Origami 6 July 29 Matsu -Mutsunokami -Masamune Tategami 7 April 7 Matsudaira -Mutsunokami Origami 8 July (double month) 18 Sendai -Chunagon Tategami 9 August 9 Matsu -Mutsunokami Tategami I analyze letter no.2 and letter no.7, esteemed, on basis of internal evidence, to have been written in 1625 (the 2nd year of Kan'ei). I try to bring to light something of the relationship between Date Masamune (died at 70, in Edo at Sakuradatei, on May 24 1636―13th year of Kan'ei), most important daimyo in Tohoku, and the first generation Katsura no Miya, Toshihito Shinno (passed away at 51, on April 7 1629―6th year of Kan'ei). Toshihito Shinno had been already received from Hosokawa Yusai the Kokindenju and was the leading person on the cultural stage of the time. |
