内容記述 | The objective of this presentation is to consider how the book has been reborn through the process of classical literature translation, especially about the Korean translation of “Kagerou Nikki (Diary of Mayfly)” in the country with different cultural backgrounds in spite of belonging to the same Chinese character cultural zone and how the rebirth has affected Japanese literature to restructure itself. Given that translation can be defined as “pursuit of equivalence between texts written in different languages,” it not only goes far beyond a one to one substitution between two different languages but also should even extend to the realm of level of culture. Particularly, translation of classics inherent in difficult-to-understand sentences due to omission of subjects and elements of time in connection with the understanding of work cannot be accomplished merely by word-for-word translation. In short, the translation of classics becomes one complete world with not only texts but also notes and comments and the grasp of the keynote of the work strongly influences the translation. So, this presentation considers how translators grasp work from the standpoint of “Completion of Korean Translation of “Kagerou Nikki”―Its Significance and Problems―” and how their take on affects their translation related to the study so far. And the presentation also deals with problems in the course of Korean translation including subjects, predicates, tense, description words, time to express “Now”, Waka-poems, and political, social, cultural terms. As a result, the presentation provides an opportunity for us to think about the rebirth of translation and Japanese literature and a new creation of literature as book. |
